Everyone’s got a little country in ‘em, and thanks to T&J’s Smokehouse, now Put-in-Bay does too! Put-in-Bay’s first country-western bar and restaurant is the place to be if you want a no-nonsense delicious burger and fries, and maybe a shot of whiskey. And of course, some peanuts before the meal, yes you can toss the shells on the floor! If you’re lucky, you might even get to catch dueling pianos! This restaurant is right by DeRivera park! Stop by to enjoy the view of the lake after you enjoy a nice strong drink.

Start the meal off with fried green tomatoes, colossal onion rings, or maybe skewered bacon-wrapped meatballs. There are 8 different flavors of plump juicy chicken wings, from the standard hot and BBQ to the more unique Caribbean Jerk and Cowboy sauce (you can get them boneless as well) and all-American sides like mac and cheese and cornbread. Although, The highlight though is the burgers. Try the Outlaw, with a whiskey-based barbeque sauce, smoked cheddar cheese, and fried onion straws. Or maybe ‘The Derf’ is more your speed. This burger is topped with Portobello mushrooms, bacon, and swiss on a spicy buffalo bun. Cap off your meal with the signature “Adult” Root Beer Float!

T&J’s Smokehouse Entertainment

The best country bands in the area perform at T&J’s Smokehouse, as it’s the only country-western bar on the island. You can check their website for a schedule of performers. T&J’s Smokehouse is also the place to challenge Brisket, the only mechanical bull on the island! Do you have the strength and the balance to take on Brisket for 8 seconds of bucking mayhem? If not, you should try anyway, because there’s padding all around to softly catch you when you’re inevitably thrown from this mechanical monster! If you’re over 18, just sign a waiver, and you’ll get the chance to hop on and grab your chance at glory by the horns! Once Brisket tires you out, refuel with a burger and a drink from T&J’s Smokehouse.

Testimonials

John S: “My son and I ate here on our trip to Put In Bay. We were drawn in by the nice aroma of BBQ. We had BBQ brisket, fries, and coleslaw. I was surprised and pleased with the portion size and great flavor. We enjoyed our meal. We ate outside. It was a Monday and there were not many people there for the early lunch that we had. I did not ride on the mechanical bull. My son would have killed me if the bull didn’t. There looks like there is plenty of areas for music venues. I bet this place is busy on the weekends. The service was just fine. I am glad we stopped.”

Julie B: “I stopped here for a snack and drinks. There was no line and was seated right away. Danny the bartender was very attentive and informative about the menu. The appetizer bacon-wrapped meatballs were very good. The brisket Cuban was great. A little too much smoke flavor but it was still delicious. He also had my favorite, pickle shots. Great snacks and great drinks Would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Maybe kids, but not in the bar area though.”

Dena Q: “We were going to go to the Boardwalk but when we got there, it looked like a fast-food restaurant for seafood which wasn’t what we were expecting. So, we left in search of something else and we found TJ’s Smokehouse. It was so hard to choose one thing on the menu and then we saw the desserts! We chose to share an entree of brisket, pulled pork, and chicken with sweet potato fries so we could have room for dessert which was deliciousness! If you like BBQ, this is the perfect place! The place is clean, the service is friendly and fast and the atmosphere is fun with a bit of rustic appeal. You can’t go wrong with TJ’s Smokehouse!”
